MY STORY

DSC_1761.jpg

Krisha Bejal is a footwear and concept designer who implements traditional craftsmanship with new and innovative construction techniques. She creates thought provoking concepts which destabilise cultural norms surrounding the human body. Her goal is to enhance the interaction between humans and objects through the sense of touch. In a world on the verge of genetic manipulation, what role will footwear designers play? A core vein running through Krisha’s work is an unbridled fascination with how future generations can be redefined through the use of sensitive and interactive technology.

Krisha draws on the visceral and affective properties of the human body to create new innovative concepts marrying the human body to its surrounding environment. She explores how characteristics of the skin, such as its warmth, elasticity, porousness, and fluidity can be translated and implemented into pioneering designs and material development. Krisha pushes traditional footwear methods and reinvents recognisable forms to reveal exciting futures that lie ahead. Application areas include Women/Kids/Sports Footwear, Product Design and Accessories.

Krisha studied Textile Design at Chelsea University of Art and Design, where she developed an interest in haptics. She soon transitioned to the craft of shoemaking at the prestigious Cordwainers College at the London College of Fashion, graduating with a First Class Honours in 2015. Krisha Bejal was awarded the 2015 Dato Jimmy Choo Award for the most Innovative Final Footwear Collection, granted by the Worshipful Cordwainers Chairman. She continues to develop her own practice alongside working in the sport footwear industry and other design collaborations.
